The genuine wild endler (Poecilia wingei) is a very popular freshwater aquarium fish species. They are highly adaptable and thrive in many different environmental and ecological conditions. Male endlers, which are smaller than females, have ornamental caudal and dorsal fins. Wild endlers generally feed on a variety of food sources, including benthic algae and aquatic insect larvae.


Offering a true-breeding pair (male and female) of genuine wild-type Poecilia wingei «Red Flame Tail» (Laguna la Malagueña and Laguna de los Patos South Lake, Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela). These miniature type livebearers are a perfect choice for nano setup. We carefully examine each of our Poecilia wingei for specific traits that help us produce the best-looking fish possible. Poecilia wingei are very hardy and undemanding in aquaria and the usual freshwater tropical set-up & parameters will allow them to do well. They seem to especially thrive in planted tanks, as this more closely mimics their natural environment. Poecilia wingei prefers reasonably hard (10 – 15 dGH, pH 6.8 – 7.8) and warm water at 24°C – 26°C, but this is not a strict requirement. Keep in mind, the warmer the water, the faster they grow; however, this may also shorten their lifespan.

Because of their small size (even as adults) they make an excellent choice for small desktop aquariums but do enjoy a roomy environment when available to them. Poecilia wingei is a peaceful species so they get along extremely well with other peaceful fish in a community set up. Males grow up to 15 – 20 mm, and females slightly larger – up to 35 – 40 mm in size.
